This past week has been incredibly busy. On top of finishing my two essays (and finally handing them in) Thursday was also Mr. LA’s 30th birthday and our 7 year anniversary.
Unfortunately, the birthday boy was feeling a little under the weather. His flu had seemed to linger longer than anyone elses and 3 weeks on he was still coughing really badly. Although we manged to have a wonderful night out I spent a lot of the evening worrying about whether he was able to breathe properly. I finally persuaded him to go to the doctors the following morning and he diagnosed pleurisy. Mr. LA is now on some fairly potent anti-biotics and a ton of painkillers, but the poor fella is still in agony.
Anyway, we still managed to celebrate in style! After we’d dropped the children off in the morning and I had handed in my assignments at uni (and squeezed in a trip to the hairdressers) we met for lunch. We decided to try out a brand new Japanese restaurant in town. The one thing we’ve always missed since leaving London and settling in Devon is a decent sushi place so we were really keen to try their lunch menu. It was delicious, we’ll definitely be going back.
I was thrilled with how pleased Mr. LA was with his birthday present. I had a beautiful leather encased hip flask engraved with his initials, it looks fabulous. He’s planning to use it on our wedding day to calm his nerves before the ceremony! Mr. LA surprised me with a ‘I know we don’t do anniversary presents but…’ present. I opened it up to find some gorgeous vintage inspired cake tins which, would have been enough on their own, but hidden inside one of them was a bottle of the new Vivienne Westwood perfume that I’ve been lusting after. Naughty Alice is a beautiful scent, I’m totally hooked.
We had a fairly chilled afternoon once we collected the children. After they were fed and bathed and bedded we got ready to head out for dinner. We decided to go to our favourite Thai restaurant. The food and service are always amazing and it has a wonderfully intimate atmosphere too.
I thought I’d share my make-up for the night, although it’s nothing you haven’t seen before from me, I’m sure. I was feeling quite lazy, effortless glamour was definitely the order of the day! I figured you don’t need to go all out when you’re wearing red Chanel lippy anyway!

We only stopped for one drink here as by this time Mr LA’s breathing was becoming more and more laboured and I just wanted to get him home. The children had been absolute angels for the sitter and the house was wonderfully peaceful when we got home. It was hard to believe it’s been seven years since our very first kiss!

You look gorgeous! I love your hair. I’ve just posted about how miserable I am with my hair and am in need of changing it….maybe red is the way forward!! Happy Anniversary 🙂 xxxx
You look stunning, very chic. I wish I could pull off feminine dress like that. Congratulations on your 7 year anniversary – longer than a lot of marriages these days!
Get well soon Mr LA – Pleurisy sounds quite horrible. I did wonder at one point if that was maybe what I had as my coughing and breathing were so painful.
xx
beautiful! very audrey dress. agreed, red lipstick is all anyone needs to wear really. happy anniversary! x
You look stunning in that dress and the lippie really suits you.
What a shame your fella was ill on his 30th. Sounds like you had a good time nonetheless though. xx
You look sizzling hot Franky, loving the dress and make up…and the hair is really fab! Wish I could pull off a dress like that! The only dress my body will be seeing for a long time is my dressing gown!
I’m so glad that despite Carl being poorly he (and you!) managed to enjoy his 30th, and your anniversary sounds lovely too 🙂
The pressies you got each other are so personal and thoughtful, and just go to show how made for one another you truly are <3

@Lila Loves. Thank you! I really love having red hair, although it’s quite high maintenance. Red fades faster than any other dye and the roots are quite noticeable on my hair (which is naturally a fairly light mousey brown). Worth it though, red locks make me feel fabulous.
@Emma Thanks, glad you approve. Your style always reminds me of my younger sister who is far more cool and edgier than myself. She always thoght she couldn’t wear dresses but gradually over the years she’s realised she can. She has a FC dress that I think you’d look amazing in actually. She goes for a much ‘tougher’ look than but it’s still very feminine and sexy. The MR is much better, not coughing so much but still in a lot of pain. I’m trying to persuade him he needs a few more days of work to recover fully but whether he’ll pay any attention is another matter!
@Lauren Loves Thank you honey, it’s one of my favourite red lippys! We did have a lovely time, I think Mr. LA wasn’t letting on quite how awful he felt because he really wanted us to have a night out for a change.

@Sophie Rosalind Thank you sweetie, I asked myself ‘what would Audrey wear’ as I was getting ready!!
@Laura Awwww thank you lovely, I feel fabulous in this frock but let me point out that it’s bought to you all by the power of Spanx! We had a lovely evening, it was so nice to get out and just relax and enjoy ourselves.

this title made me giggle – me and my hubbies celebrated our 7th wedding anniversay on the 5th jan and i said to him – ooooo the seven year itch!!!! he was like ‘what’ so i told him. He said ‘ o lovely, thanks for that, just what i want to hear!!’……later on that day ‘ the 7 year itch’ was on t.v – very strange!!!!
@LissyLou How funny! What a coincidence that it was on telly too, I’ve lost my copy of the film, I really must replace it! Happy anniversary to you both! xxx
