This past week has been incredibly busy. On top of finishing my two essays (and finally handing them in) Thursday was also Mr. LA’s 30th birthday and our 7 year anniversary.

Unfortunately, the birthday boy was feeling a little under the weather. His flu had seemed to linger longer than anyone elses and 3 weeks on he was still coughing really badly. Although we manged to have a wonderful night out I spent a lot of the evening worrying about whether he was able to breathe properly. I finally persuaded him to go to the doctors the following morning and he diagnosed pleurisy. Mr. LA is now on some fairly potent anti-biotics and a ton of painkillers, but the poor fella is still in agony.

Anyway, we still managed to celebrate in style! After we’d dropped the children off in the morning and I had handed in my assignments at uni (and squeezed in a trip to the hairdressers) we met for lunch. We decided to try out a brand new Japanese restaurant in town. The one thing we’ve always missed since leaving London and settling in Devon is a decent sushi place so we were really keen to try their lunch menu. It was delicious, we’ll definitely be going back.

I was thrilled with how pleased Mr. LA was with his birthday present. I had a beautiful leather encased hip flask engraved with his initials, it looks fabulous. He’s planning to use it on our wedding day to calm his nerves before the ceremony! Mr. LA surprised me with a ‘I know we don’t do anniversary presents but…’ present. I opened it up to find some gorgeous vintage inspired cake tins which, would have been enough on their own, but hidden inside one of them was a bottle of the new Vivienne Westwood perfume that I’ve been lusting after. Naughty Alice is a beautiful scent, I’m totally hooked.

We had a fairly chilled afternoon once we collected the children. After they were fed and bathed and bedded we got ready to head out for dinner. We decided to go to our favourite Thai restaurant. The food and service are always amazing and it has a wonderfully intimate atmosphere too.

I thought I’d share my make-up for the night, although it’s nothing you haven’t seen before from me, I’m sure. I was feeling quite lazy, effortless glamour was definitely the order of the day! I figured you don’t need to go all out when you’re wearing red Chanel lippy anyway!

And here is a picture of me posing awkwardly in my outfit. You can really see my new hair colour in this photo, it gets redder every time I go to the salon! This was taken in the pub we went to on the way home. I love this place, it’s so cozy. There are loads of twinkly fairy lights and antique books piled everywhere.

We only stopped for one drink here as by this time Mr LA’s breathing was becoming more and more laboured and I just wanted to get him home. The children had been absolute angels for the sitter and the house was wonderfully peaceful when we got home. It was hard to believe it’s been seven years since our very first kiss!
