Once upon a time, I would have definitely described my little space here on the internet as a ‘beauty blog’.
Indeed, the very first blogs I ever read sat neatly withing that genre too. I poured over swatches and product reviews and eagerly awaited the usual flurry of haul posts after a new MAC collection launched.
After this period of tentatively dipping my toes into what is lovingly referred to as the ‘beauty blogging community’, I found myself pregnant with my second child. Unable to have much fun with fashion (because elasticated waistbands are NEVER, EVER fun, I don’t care what Topshop say) make-up became my main avenue for expressing myself and maintaining a little bit of my own identity while consumed by pregnancy.
I think it’s fair to say that my make-up addiction was in full swing by the time I eventually plucked up the courage to upload my first blog post. Blogging provided a welcome distraction from the final stages of a pregnancy that felt like it was never going to end. I posted about face masks and lipstick and eye-shadow combinations and my favourite bath products and I loved it. I had been well and truly bitten by the blogging bug.
A lot has changed round here since then. Over time, my blog posts have become much more varied. I generally feature whatever happens to be in my head when I sit down in front of my laptop, not a particularly scientific approach but it seems to work!
I recently revealed my deep dark blogging secret to a close friend of mine and found myself describing Loveaudrey as a sort of online journal and I think that’s fairly accurate.
I write about the things I love and the thoughts that have been floating through my mind.
I write about the stuff I do with the children, for fear that I might one day forget all the tiny insignificant moments I’ve shared with them and, strangely, this doesn’t seem to bore you.
I post pictures that make me smile in the hope that they might make you smile too.
So while Loveaudrey might not be considered a proper ‘beauty blog’ these days, I hope that you might still think of it as a blog of beauty.
And because, no matter what, I’ll always love lipstick and I’ll always, always love Chanel, I thought I’d post some pretty pictures of my latest purchase. Old habits die hard I guess.
And a little bit of blusher for luck…
I didn’t spend nearly 2 years perfecting my FOTD pose for nothing. Here they are on my mug.

i LOVE the content of your blog – i adore beauty blogs and the majority of the ones i follow are purely about make up – but I like the way you mix aspects of your personal life into it and it works firstly because (as you know) I think you have an adorable family to write about, but mostly because you are a very very good writer. It is lovely to read. and I always look forward to a loveaudrey post popping up on the dashboard! i am very much looking forward to the wedding almost as if you were a friend (ha, that was all v cheesy but meant sincerely.) oh, and i want that lipstick now! xxx
@Sophie Rosalind Thank you so, so much for your comment! I still love reading beauty blogs too and my favourites are also the ones that manage to project a little of their personality onto the screen. I’m so glad that you think I acieve this, and that you think I write well. That means a lot to me. I LOVE sharing my wedding planning with everyone on here, I’m thrilled thrilled that you enjoy reading it!
Oh, and you NEED that lipstick now! It’s amaaaaaazing!

I’m a new reader of your blog, and I must say that I love it! I’m a huge Audrey fan, so the title is what first peaked my interest. 🙂 I think blogs should be about sharing just what you want to share, and what you love and inspires you. My blog is all about just things I like. I want that lipstick so badly, btw!

Oh, you’re a doll. Of course your blog is a thing of beauty, in every sense. The make-up and sheer chic-factor that you emulate so easily are fabulous, but the addition of the little personal moments you document with your family are nothing short of enchanting. You combine all the things you love to make your blog a unique representation of you. There’s nothing better than that!
I think Casee Marie took the words right out of my mouth! Your blog is about YOU, the ups and the downs, the pretty and fabulous, and the not so…I KNOW when I read your posts it’s honest, sincere and incredibly eloquent!
Great minds think alike too…because (minus the Chanel!) I’m about to do a post like this, I miss my blog!
By the way…LOVE the lippie on you, fab FOTD 🙂 xxx
I often find myself talking about everything under the sun on my blog so it’s hard to fit it into one category. I like blogs that give you an insight on the person’s thoughts and their life in general. It’s far more interesting than those faceless blogs with no real heart to them. Loving the Chanel lippy and blusher! You have perfected the FOTD pose too…I know how difficult it is to do!ha ha
This is definitely a blog of beauty, and I love reading it, ever since I first found it on Daisy’s recommendation! Long live Loveaudrey 🙂 x
@Gabrielle Thank you and welcome, the more Audrey fans the merrier! The lippy is lovely, I wore it again today and felt fabulous!
@Casee Marie Such a compliment, espcecially coming from someone who writes such a fabulous blog herself! I’m so pleased you enjoy reading.
@Laura Awwww thank you honey, I’m so glad we found eachother on the internet. I miss your blog too, time to teach Jamie how to sit on your knee quietly while you write a post 😉
@Liparazzi I seriously LOVE the way you mix things up on your blog, I’m always pleased to see a Liparazzi post pop on my reader!! Your personality really shines through and it makes for compelling reading. I’m in love with my new lippy, you should swatch it next time you’re near a Chanel counter, I think you’d love it too!
@Rocaille Thank you lovely!! You’re one of the original readers and I’m so glad I have you in my ‘virtual’ life!!

I adore your blog, it is honestly one of my favourites. Blogging should be about what you want to blog about, I used to find myself trying to conform, but I don’t now. I blog when I want about what I want.
To be honest I read very few blogs that are purely beauty. I much prefer, like you said, a bit of personality showing through 🙂
Keep up your awesome blogging xx
I love your blog for its variety of content (even if the food posts make me drool unbecomingly). Reading about your family and your weekend is charming; you’re a very good writer!
@Rebecca Thank you, you’ve summed up my feelings exactly. It means so much to me that you enjoy reading my blog.
@Grace London Wow! Thank you, your comment means so much to me, especially as I admire your blog greatly!
