• Sleeping in.
  • Making pancakes for breakfast.
  • Smiling at the children’s enthusiasm for maple syrup.
  • Sipping tea.
  • Reading {and loving} The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of a Window and Disappeared.
  • Wearing comfy clothes for a day in front of my laptop.
  • Packing Izzy off to a party.
  • Hanging out in the playroom with Jesse.
  • Writing.
  • Eating French onion soup and bagels.
  • Writing some more.
  • Snuggling on the sofa in front of a film.
  • Cooking and eating prawn linguine. I used a recipe from Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals which turned out to be simple and delicious. Jesse devoured two helpings as well, which is always a bonus.
  • Bathing the children.
  • Loving Jesse’s bubble beard.
  • Writing. Again. Can you tell I’ve got a deadline?!
  • Wrapping birthday presents.
  • Watching Family Guy on the sofa with Mr.LA.
  • Drifting off to sleep while listening to the radio.
  • Letting the birthday boy stay in bed.
  • Making Salmon and Dill Breakfast Muffins.
  • Playing Altered Images. It’s tradition.
  • Watching Mr. LA open his gifts. I had our Jeremy Marshall screenprint framed for him which he loved, and treated him to the entire series of Walking Dead comics.
  • Wandering to Wagamamas for lunch.
  • Enjoying the wintery sunshine.
  • Being patient with Jesse. Testing behaviour, very testing.
  • Browsing the home department in John Lewis.
  • Buying sweets.
  • Introducing the children to ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’. I loved this movie as a child. Jessica Rabbit was an early screen icon of mine 😉
  • Preparing double potato and halloumi bake.
  • Thinking about the first time I ever cooked for my Dad and his wife in my flat after leaving home at 17. I followed this very recipe and felt immensely proud of myself when it turned out OK.
  • Mixing up my current favourite salad. Grated carrot, pear, red onion, white cabbage and rocket tossed in oil and red wine vinegar. So tasty and colourful.
  • Toasting the birthday boy.
  • Eating lots.
  • Singing happy birthday. No cake, so we made do with a packet of Percy Pigs and an expertly placed candle.
  • Thinking about this time last year.
  • Putting the children to bed
  • Trying not to worry about how much work I have to do this week.
  • Looking forward to tomorrow.
