Indulged in a little retail therapy this weekend. A pale denim shirt and a tan waist belt from Warehouse and a stack of basics from H&M in varying shades of grey.
I’ve been inspired by Wearing It Today to give my stash of tees, knits and vests a bit of an overhaul. If you have the perfect grey sweater, spray-on skinny jeans and some fabulous shoes you’re pretty much set. Just accessorise with a red lip and good grooming for effortless style. That’s what I’m aiming for anyway.
As for the shirt…

I love that word.Say it with me – Chhhhambraaay. It instantly makes a plain, old denim shirt sound a whole lot more stylish.
I don’t often find myself particularly drawn to ‘trends’ but the recent proliferation of chambray shirts popping up on my dashboard, be they on the catwalk, beautiful bloggers or celebs, has resulted in some serious lusting on my part. I think I’m drawn to them because they’re kind of classic, a wardrobe essential up there with the perfect white shirt and a LBD.
So very versatile too, I’ll be able to wear this casual and dressy, flung over a white tee with some shorts (can’t wait for shorts weather) or with something a little smarter when the mood takes me. I’m a little bit in love with this ensemble from the ‘More Dash Than Cash’ section in the March issue of Vogue… Makes me want one in a deeper denim. I love how Anh at 9 to 5 Chic wore hers too. Oh how I love a good trench coat, so very stylish, so very Audrey…
What are your thoughts on the chambray trend ladies? What are your wardrobe essentials and where do you head to stock up on basics?

Liking those kind of looks very much – casual but not sloppy, and I like the chambray with the black skinny jeans.
I tend to head for Uniqlo for basics – they’re cut well and aren’t hugely expensive, so I can stock up on plain t-shirts. I like their jeans too.
I don’t have any chambray but I need some basics too! Love grey, can’t get enough of it! x
I have noooo idea what a chambray is! FAIL! I have literally no clothes, I refuse to buy any in the size I am now, I will just have to wait until I’m back into my old size! xxx
@Grace London Thanks for the Uniqlo tip. I don’t have one locally but will have to locate one when I head to London for the weekend at the end of March.
@StyleFrost I think you would look great ina shirt like this, you wear blouses so well! I love grey, think I even prefer it to black these days!
@Laura Chanmbray is just a fancy fashiony way of saying pale denim 😉
Just think of the mega shopping blow out you can have when you reach your goal! Wouldn’t it be fabulous if we could go shopping together!
