- Waking up in Cornwall. With a mighty hangover. Friday saw myself, Mr LA and my baby sister {that’s her looking FIT in the pictures above}heading to our sten {stag + hen = sten} weekend at Treleaven Farmhouse in Mevagissey, Cornwall. We were greeted by 12 other friends and copious amounts of alcohol. The party got underway almost immediately and didn’t wind down until around 5am on Saturday morning. Ouch.
- Cooking an EPIC fry-up to cure all those sore heads. I fried 30 eggs and felt a little bit like a school dinner lady.
- Drinking many, many cups of restorative tea.
- Feeling very glad I got in the shower before all the hot water was used up!
- Taking a stroll down to the harbour.
- Loading up on the carbs at lunchtime. We cooked a huge pot of pasta and munched on garlic baguettes. Something about lining our stomachs…
- Doing a booze run.
- Catching up with my best friends/bridesmaids over cups of tea and bags of Haribo while the boys headed to the pub to sample some local ale.
- Cooking a vat of chili. There’s something deeply satisfying about cooking for 15 people. Especially slow cooking a rich, spicy meat sauce that they fall upon and devour within moments of it being placed on the table.
- Toasting my Dad.
- Settling down for some hilarious drinking games. Yes, yes, I know… we’re far too old and sensible for such shenanigans but oh! How we laughed!
- Being forced to accept I’m no good at picking a cardboard box up off the floor with my teeth. Many alcohol based forefeits did ensue.
- Drinking too much cheap vodka.
- Drinking a little more cheap vodka. And some gin. And a few sips of beer too. Whoops.
- Trying to recreate Uma Therman’s dance from Pulp Fiction.
- Singing along to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Very loudly.
- Leaving the hardcore drinkers to it and passing out retiring to bed.
- Sleeping until almost 11.30am. This was a momentous occasion as neither of us have slept past 9am in around 7 years. Not even the horrific hangover could sully the moment we realised how late it was.
- Needing tea and a bacon sandwich in a big way.
- Cursing the lack of ketchup {a shopping oversight on my part}.
- Clearing up after the night before.
- Chuckling at video footage of Mr. LA drunkenly dancing to Prodigy. Boy got MOVES.
- Marvelling at how amazing our friends are.
- Wishing the weekend didn’t have to end {but also itching to get back to my babies}.
- Saying goodbye to everyone and realising the next time we’ll see most of them will be our wedding day. {There’s less than 8 weeks to go! Eeee!}
- Taking the train back to Exeter.
- Munching on a Wispa and sipping diet coke.
- Cuddling the children and saying goodbye to my parents.
- Ordering pizza.
- Eating said pizza on the sofa in front of old episodes of The Office.
- Collapsing into bed.
- Vowing never to drink again 😉

Love your jacket so much! Sounds like you had a lovely weekend xx
Sounds absolutely ruddy fantastic…..I love and adore Cornwall, and think I may have been to that bit of it…..but then I’ve been to most of the south-west coast!
I think having a STEN weekend makes soooo much more sense than separate weekends/nights out….after all arent friends usually mutual and whatnot?
But sounds like you had a great time….and your sister looks as lovely as you do. I agree that your coat is to die for!
yay!! thank you – i have managed to order online and it was in the sale 🙂
Sounds amazing!
The idea of a sten do (better than a hag…) is great. Especially as the boy and my friends are the same. Some of my best friends are male! I want to share it altogether!
You must be SO excited!
