- Hoping Jesse might sleep a little longer.
- Giving in and getting up.
- Making homemade Egg McMuffins for breakfast.
- Sipping tea.
- Wishing Mr. LA wasn’t working away all weekend.
- Desperately trying to shower, get dressed, do my makeup and dry my hair while also keeping the children occupied.
- Suspecting DVD players may have been invented with this very dilemma in mind.
- Wrapping up warm and stepping out into the bright but bitterly cold world beyond our front door.
- Managing to entertain the children without spending a single penny. Thank goodness for libraries, free museums and the wealth of open space and playgrounds we have available to us.
- Eating leftover spicy parsnip soup and naans for lunch.
- Enjoying my brand new and brightly coloured oven gloves from Paperchase {I got the tea towels to match too}.
- Daydreaming about decorating projects. We’re planning on doing up the children’s bedroom when they make the inevitable move to bunk beds soon, and I’m also desperate to give our hallway and landing a fresh lick of paint.
- Curling up on the sofa to watch the Sex and the City Movie. One of the only perks of Mr. LA’s absence is I can watch whatever vacuous, girly rubbish I want to, free from his scathing sarcasm about how awful it is.
- Missing my best friends in London.
- Receiving a very exciting email.
- Staying up far too late.
- Climbing into an empty bed. This is always tough. For about the first five minutes. Then you realise how much more room you have and wrap yourself up in the whole duvet guilt free.
- Snuggling in bed with Jesse.
- Wondering if my son is ever NOT hungry. His requests for food are constant, from the moment he wakes up {‘Porridge Mummy, we go down for breakfast… need toast and yogurt Mummy’} to when he goes to bed {‘Bread stick Mummy, in my jammies eat it… raisins Mummy.. one more milk, pleeeeease’}.
- Taking Izzy to her Sunday morning drama class.
- Hanging out with Jesse back at the house.
- Picking Izzy up and heading home for lunch.
- Watching Mary Poppins.
- Enjoying some veggie treats from The Parsnipship {by way of Exeter’s weekly farmers market} with some very garlicky crushed new potatoes.
- Pottering while Jesse slept and Izzy crafted.
- Spending too much time on Pinterest.
- Taking a late afternoon walk to the Spar shop. Don’t you just hate it when you run out of nappies unexpectedly?!
- Coming home via the park. I love the wintry light at this time of day. The playground seemed quite magical against the pink and yellow sky beyond.
- Eating roast sweet potatoes with Moroccan topped hummus and loads of green salad.
- Putting some very sleepy children to bed.
- Wanting my husband home.
- Loving every second of a long phone call with my Mum.
- Drinking hot chocolate and blogging.

Ah I was about to head over to FB to send you a message asking how Jesse is now so am really pleased to see him up and out and about! SOunds like a nice weekend considering it could have been stressful!
Thankfully for me, Graham’s weekend work finished early so he was with us today… good thing too as the kids are awful at the moment, both are ill and therefore vile tempered. Am hoping though that they recover soon and we can maybe get them all together this week. Only day thats no good for us is Thursday xxx
Oh no! Sorry the girls are poorly. If they’re better then we could definitely do something this week. Wednesday afternoon is good for us. Tea and cake at mine or a playdate in town somewhere? xxx
I think you definitely made the best of a weekend sans Mr S! I can’t wait to spend weekends like this 🙂 However it just makes me wish I lived closer and could’ve joined you! Glad Jesse’s got his appetite back! xxx
Oh I wish you lived closer too. It was a great weekend but I really missed adult conversation, twitter just wasn’t enough! xxx
Hello, really love your post !
Nice to see that I am not the only one to do makeup and drying hair while playing with my 2 year old :-))) (which is actually asking non stop for food too;-))).
Have a great day !
