My weekend has mainly been spent…

Part of the Weekends category.

Crunchy Leaves
  • Starting the day far too early. Jesse is full of cold and none of us are getting enough sleep.
  • Administering Calpol and making tea.
  • Snuggling beneath a blanket on the sofa.
  • Eating Marmite toast for breakfast.
  • Helping Mr L.A. clear out his wardrobe. He’s really not a fan of decluttering, but he managed to fill three black bags with unwanted clothes and shoes.
  • Grabbing a quick shower.
  • Pulling on clean PJs.
  • Meal planning for the week ahead and doing an online shop.
  • Warming some soup for lunch.
  • Clearing and sorting Izzy’s room. We’re working on a small makeover for her 13th birthday at the end of the month.
  • Reading The Year of Less in bed. I’m loving it so far. The author’s blog,, is also worth browsing if you’re into minimalism and simple living.
  • Listening to the wind and rain outside.
  • Daydreaming about how nice our bedroom will look when our new wardrobe finally arrives in a few weeks time.
  • Cooking and eating Meera Sodah’s Punjabi Potato Curry. The recipe doesn’t seem to be online, but you’ll find it in her book, Fresh India.
  • Coaxing the kids into bed.
  • Watching The Killing of a Sacred Deer and not enjoying it at all.
  • Collapsing into bed.
  • Waking up when our Ocado delivery arrived at the door.
  • Letting Jesse help me put the groceries away. It’s the one chore he’s always happy to do!
  • Sipping tea and listening to First Aid Kit’s new album on repeat.
  • Wishing Mr L.A. didn’t have to work.
  • Making a quick veggie breakfast. Hash browns, fried mushrooms and spinach with plenty of hot sauce.
  • Trying to shake-off my current CFS crash with more time spent resting in bed.
  • Reheating leftovers for lunch.
  • Watching the kids colour and draw for most of the afternoon.
  • Ordering Izzy’s new furniture and planning the layout of her room.
  • Reminiscing about my own teenage bedroom and the posters I used to plaster the walls with.
  • Taking a long hot shower.
  • Tweaking this recipe for Black Bean Stir-Fry and loving the result. I used tofu instead of seitan {The Tofoo Co. is my current fave} and spinach instead of pak choi. The sauce is easily as good as anything I’ve had from the local takeaway!
  • Serving our fakeaway with Itsu Vegetable Fusion Gyoza. They take three minutes to cook from frozen and happen to be vegan too.
  • Eating too much.
  • Blow-drying my hair.
  • Binge-watching friends with Izzy. She’s completely addicted.
  • Writing a to-do list for the week ahead.
  • Squeezing in a couple of episodes of The Good Place before bed.

Love Audrey xxx
