  • Excitedly searching for the article by Diana Henry featuring me and my mum. From Mum, With Love includes our family recipe for Chicken and Watercress Casserole.
  • Celebrating with a late breakfast prepared by Mr L.A. His Strawberry Brunch Bruschettas were delicious.
  • Luxuriating in the shower.
  • Blow drying my hair and slipping into clean PJs.
  • Coaxing Jesse into his clothes.
  • Saying goodbye when the boys set off for a few hours in town.
  • Binge watching Grace and Frankie on Netflix.
  • Snacking on Pringles straight from the tube.
  • Listening to Jesse chat about his morning while Mr L.A. made lunch.
  • Preparing the sauce for a vegetarian version of the Chicken and Watercress Casserole. Vegetable stock and some Quorn fillets worked a treat.
  • Making my Ginger Biscuit and Lemon Cream Pie.
  • Ploughing through a mountain of housework.
  • Packing away our winter woollens. I hope not prematurely.
  • Sorting laundry.
  • Greeting Izzy at the door.
  • Listening to her tales of adventure.
  • Smiling when she described her and her friends singing around the campfire.
  • Feeling exhausted.
  • Resisting the urge to order a takeaway.
  • Cooking a spinach and chickpea curry.
  • Giving goodnight kisses.
  • Running myself a bath.
  • Retiring to bed.
  • Waking up earlier than I’d have liked to.
  • Waiting for the children to join us downstairs.
  • Opening their beautiful handmade cards and an array of wonderful gifts. Pink tulips, posh hot chocolate, The Handmaid’s Tale* and West Side Story* on BluRay.
  • Grabbing a quick breakfast.
  • Making a start on lunch.
  • Jumping in the shower.
  • Pulling on my clothes and fixing my makeup.
  • Taking delivery of two stunning bouquets from Rachel at The Rose Shed.
  • Laying the table and waiting for our guests to arrive.
  • Welcoming my sister, her boyfriend, my parents and my gran.
  • Handing out flowers and gifts.
  • Putting the finishing touches to lunch.
  • Eating too much.
  • Taking everyone to see our new allotment.
  • Chatting about all the things we plan to grow.
  • Letting the children play outside in the street.
  • Watching them draw all over the pavement with giant chalk.
  • Basking in the sunshine.
  • Joining in with a game of hopscotch.
  • Saying goodbye to my gran.
  • Resting on the sofa.
  • Making macaroni cheese for dinner.
  • Plunging Jesse into the tub.
  • Saying goodnight.
  • Writing this blog post.
  • Looking forward to relaxing on the sofa with my mum all evening.
